One heck of a cold and windy autocross, but one the most fun that we’ve had in a while! (more…)
First autocross run in my new 2012 Mustang and unfortunately the only run that we were able to record with our new datalogger setup – a Race-Technology Video4+GPS. (more…)
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a Ford guy (despite owning a Camaro). That said, the technology that Chevy has poured into the new ZL1 Camaro is seriously impressive. Magnetic ride control, some pretty cool aerodynamic tweaks and not to mention that LSA engine, it seems to be quite a potent package despite it’s high curb weight. (more…)
There’s simply no better looking dash than the ’67 Deluxe Interior. Ford modeled the ’05-09 and ’10-current dash on it for a good reason! (more…)

Found this article yesterday on Wired. It covers some of the build process of the Aston Martin One-77, an amazing piece of hand-built automobile. The craftsmanship and care that goes into the construction is something that your average Camry of SUV owner couldn’t give a hoot about, but is something that enthusiasts take to heart.
Another gem from the old magazine archives that I know several friends will enjoy! This is the old Datsun 240Z Omega project that Car & Driver put together. I don’t know if there are more in the series or not, but here’s Part 1 and Part 2.
At the end of the article came across something else really amusing, a quick overview of the Texas 500 held at Texas World Speedway in College Station (home of Texas A&M). The oval on this track hasn’t seen NASCAR action in quite sometime, but still runs events to this day on the road course. The lack of safety gear is amazing considering today’s racing environment…
While home for Thanksgiving, I pulled some old magazines that my Dad had collected over the years. It’s amazing how times have changed! First up is “How to Win at Slalom & Autocross”.
The advertisements are amusing not to mention the difference in prices of parts between then and now! I sure wish a set of Konis was $100…

Whether for yourself or for the car nut in your life, I can recommend both of these books!
On the left is The Unfair Advantage, a great book on Mark Donohue’s racing career. It’s got tons of great stories about racing in the 60s including Trans Am, Indy, Le Mans, and SCCA club racing to name a few. You might actually pick up a few car setup tips here as well!
The right book is Go Like Hell, A.J. Baime’s coverage of the Ford/Ferrari wars, specially the GT-40 racing project in the mid-60s. It’s a great read going into the development of the GT-40s, Carrol Shelby’s involvement, all the drivers, the engineering… All packaged up in a highly readable (meaning, not painful as non-fiction tends to be) book. It ends pre-’67, so doesn’t cover the only all-American win at Le Mans (the Gurney/Foyt win in ’67), but nonetheless is more than worthy of a spot on your bookshelf!
My Dad has been making some progress on his Factory Five Daytona Coupe. It’s a hold nothing back build, with some drool worthy parts!
First up is the all-aluminum engine. Trick Flow CNC 205 heads, TWN ITBs with hidden fuel injectors (for the classic look), Jesel Belt Drive, and World Products Man-O-War aluminum block. In the plans are a dry sump setup and lots of other goodies! (more…)
