As a Blue Oval fan, I just had to share this series of articles on Speedhunters.
Quite an amazing collection, especially considering they all run!
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not an import guy, but I do appreciate cars of all kinds and vintage rides I have a certain fondness for.
Spotted at the local supermarket stand was this “premiere issue” of Super Street Retro, packed to the gills with classic Japanese rides. Inside are S30s, Skylines, AE86s… you name it.
I picked up a copy to browse through and maybe pick up an idea here or there.
Certainly something different to read compared to the usual “how to make 1000hp” articles that seem so redundant these days in the Mustang and Camaro mags…
If you find a copy, recommend you pick one up!
SEMA always has some amazing cars, some are hideous, others over-the-top, and then there’s the understated which demonstrate tastefullness and restraint. The Icon Bronco has got to be one of my favorite SEMA cars to come along in a while.
I’m not going to copy all the details here, but do yourself a favor and check out the Autoblog preview and the Icon website for more information on this amazing truck and groundbreaking company.
I wish I was rich…
For those who aren’t SCCA members Sports Car magazine gets distributed to all members monthly. Every year they try to pick the winners for Nationals and then do a writeup for the results.
They give a pretty writeup for Todd and I, click the picture above to be taken to the article!
Lots of work got done on the Camaro yesterday!

First was new front springs and lower rear ride height.
Been a while since the event, but figured I’d go ahead and finish this off. Last post on Nationals!
As a reminder, Day 2 started with Todd Farris in 1st less than a tenth up on Robert Lewis with myself in 3rd less than 0.030 behind Lewis.

Day 2 video from the East course is up!
My best run. Got a slalom cone right off the bat… Would have been a jacket, but as Todd will remind me, cones count!
Todd’s best run, clinching the National Championship!
Unfortunately the latest Race-Keeper software doesn’t yet support output of the side-by-side video as that is a trip to watch. I like the behind the shoulder camera position better than the one we used on Day 1, it really does a better job of showing our different driving styles. For instance, I wear the shoulder harnesses and Todd does not…
Hope you enjoy!
Thanks to Sherman’s Race-Keeper we were able to capture Video and GPS data both days. Here’s my best run on the Kevin Younger’s designed West Course from Day 1. We unfortunately don’t have Todd’s best since we forgot to push the record button on that run…
I really enjoyed the course, but don’t think that either Todd or I were completely happy with any of our runs over here with lots of little mistakes. The center sweeper in the course really required some bravery to keep the pedal down and I never had the guts to do it!
More video and Day 2 photos to follow!
Wow, what a week! Follows is the official SCCA blurb:
“A three-time bridesmaid, Todd Farris earned his first National Championship with a win on Wednesday in C Prepared. Farris turned his fastest time on Wednesday during his third and final run in his Strohs Bar & Grill Chevrolet Camaro, taking the lead from co-driver Jeff Stroh by just 0.094-second. ”
It was a hell of a battle that the results don’t fully tell (link). We’ll go back to the beginning to retell. Part 2, Video and Race-Keeper Data to follow later this week!
